Vacation!! Our Florida retreat
It has been a while since my last post. Sorry about that. Since a couple of days my son, wife and me are hanging out here in Orlando Florida. We’ve flown with Lufthansa. First we had to go to Frankfurt then a direct flight from Frankfurt to Orlando. The flight was great, mostly due to the fact that our son (who’s 2 years and 3 months old) was behaving wonderfull.
I’ve flown with (for me a lot of) different companies lately so i’ve come up with this little table (comparing Delta, British Airways, KLM and Lufthansa) which shows my experience. These experiences are based upon the luxury i’ve had to be flying business class. When compared to economy nobody wins, Singapore Airlines is the biggest winner of them all (like i said to a KLM hostess, Singapore Airlines Economy is much better than all of the business classes below). They’ve made a 23 hour flight to Australia feel like a 2 hour flight.
FYI: Since i get airsick easily eating on a plane is not my favorite thing to do. So that’s why i do not like those specially created Chef’s dinners with all the fancy cooking stuff. I love this in a restaurant but that’s because in a restaurant it is served fresh. At a plane, it needs to be conserved which kills the taste and makes everything smell like catfood (sometimes it tastes like that too). Pizza was invented for this reason, that’s why Delta is my friend. You might wonder how Singapore Airline fixed this for me? Well, i told them i didn’t wanted the food and after telling the reason why they made me a fresh salmon sandwhich (they had a chef cooking for the people in first class). This is how you make friends 
So, back to Florida. We’re in a wonderful house, so wonderful in fact that i didn’t want to keep it from the world so below is a video of the whole place (the video is in Dutch).

You should try to fly with Delta through Atlanta, never through JFK (if possible). They fly new airplanes through Atlanta only, and only occassionally through JFK
!That would increase your Delta ratings. And fully agree on KLM (I mostly fly KLM). I think Delta business class is probably best (in Skyteam, I only fly Skyteam because of the miles), although differences are small.

Wat betreft je ervaringen met vliegmaatschappijen ben ik het zoals je weet niet geheel met je eens. Bovenaan mijn lijst staat nog steeds British Airways. Supergoed eten, goede service, fijne stoelen om te slapen, korte overstap in Londen (gaat nu via Gatwick dus geen Heathrow problemen) en heel fijne en goede Boeing 777! Alles gewoon erg netjes. Mijn enige minpuntje is dat de stoelen om en om staan waardoor je vaak achteruit vliegt en weinig contact met je buurman of -vrouw kunt hebben. Prima als je alleen reist maar als je zoontje naast je zit wil je er juist wel goed bij kunnen
Enige optie is dan in het midden waar 2 stoelen naast elkaar staan maar door de om en om opstelling kan je er dan nauwelijks uit zonder over andere passagiers heen te klimmen.
Lufthansa vond ik ook prettig vliegen alleen het eten iets minder en de service ook. Waar je bij British Airways elke 10 minuten een nieuw flesje water krijgt, moet je er bij Lufthansa om vragen. Daarbij leek het meer op een “moetje” van de crew, ze hadden er niet echt zin in.
Met KLM heb ik nog nooit business class gevlogen dus daar kan ik niet over oordelen. Wie weet de volgende keer
Delta vliegt vooral met oude kisten, iets waar ik geen groot fan van ben met mijn verleden van vliegangst. De service was prima al vond ik het eten niet lekker. Amerikanen zijn wel altijd gezellig dus qua mensen top. Alleen mag het allemaal wel een beetje vernieuwd worden en dat is nu net lastig voor Amerikaanse maatschappijen die het op dit moment maar net redden.

In elk geval bedankt voor de tips, nu moet ik alleen mijn vrouw (zie commentaar hierboven) nog zien te overtuigen!
Over Delta’s technische vooruitgang gesproken: ik hoorde dat ze vanaf 1 sept in heel de VS wifi aan boord aan aanbieden voor $9.95 per vlucht!
Oh, gelukkig maar. Idd, ik had het ook al gehoord, ik vond het echt erg goedkoop … Kan de blackberry weer aanblijven
! En echt, ik vlieg veel met Delta. De vliegtuigen naar Atlanta zijn (splinter)nieuwe Airbus toestellen, met (ook in Economy) schermpjes en zo. Echt erg. De vluchten naar JFL zijn vaak nog met die oude Boeings …
Hetzelfde geldt ook een beetje voor KLM naar New York. De middagvlucht (13:30) is met 777, de avondvlucht (18:00) met 747. Nou, dat betekent dus in principe de middagvlucht. En misschien voor ‘het leuke’ nog met de 747 omdat je dan boven kan zitten in business class. Veel plezier met de ‘moeilijke’ afwegingen

Mochten jullie een huisje kopen daar, dan hoop ik toch wel dat jullie een andere inrichting nemen. Ook al moet ik zeggen dat ik wel weg ben van de ‘handdoekzwanen’
